hunting!

the hunt this year was only five days. out of those five days, i had two i could actually go hunt. i figured i would get one like, the first day. no such luck.

apparently, it's been too warm and there is a disease going around the deer. needless to say, there was NOTHING out there.

jon, my dad, jordan, austin, paul, dj and i got out there at the buttcrack of dawn. we hiked around and saw a group of about ten doe. that was it. i was thinking i would never find anything. we went back out that afternoon and saw the same group of doe several times but NO bucks whatsoever. dj lost his ipod that night and was pretty upset. hahaha. they went to look for it the next morning and he said "the alarm goes off at 7:30 and it sounds like crickets". we all were like, "oh, that's just perfect!" :)

the next morning, it was raining. SO NOT FUN ! we were like, a mile from the truck and it started raining and hailing. i was already freezing and getting pelted in the face by hail made it ten times worse. we didn't see anything in the morning until we were leaving. we saw something running through the trees so we got out and followed it for a while. it's hoofprint was HUGE. we went back to town and got lunch and hung out for a while. later in the afternoon, we left to go back out. we hiked a long ways and saw two doe and some old tracks but no bucks. we drove around, sat around waiting, but we were mostly just going to give up. we had talked to paul and dj and we were just going to leave. jon decided that we were going to drive down one more road and then we would leave. we got driving down the road to tinny and we saw two doe but i had made sure there wasn't a buck. we kept driving and about twenty yards down the road we saw two more doe and A BUCK! ahh, i was so excited. i quietly got out of the truck, shaking. i walked around the truck and looked at him. he never ran. i think he wanted to die. his life must have sucked. :) i got the gun up, found him in the scope (which took FOREVER) and pulled the trigger and dropped him! YAY! jon was so proud of me. :) i gave jon the gun cause i was shaking so bad. we walked up to him. he was a three point! it was big. like, ten times the size of my last year one. i was soo happy. jon had to gut him (EW!!) and then we took him home and did everything else.

here he is:

isn't he a beauty?

here i am showing him off:

lovely, huh?

I seriously think we hiked like, ten miles. i'm soo dang tired and super sore. i was run ragged. but, i can't wait until next year!

busy life.

wow, i haven't updated in FOREVER!

i seriously feel like i'm soo busy...but i'm not. i do go to school every day but then i get home and do nothing..but i swear the nights just fly by.

i'm down to almost two months left of school and i couldn't be happier. i'm sooo excited to be done! after school, i want to nanny for a while, maybe working at a salon a few nights a week. i sometimes think that i don't want to do hair forever because it just isn't something i LOVE to do, but i think once i get out of school and i am on my own, it will be different. i have such negative feelings towards school and i just want to get out of there!!

other than that, there isn't much going on!

the other night, jon and i went to see his sister jill before she left on her mission! i am proud of her and i am happy she chose to go on a mission! :) i even started to tear up as we started to leave..it was nuts. she is going to be an amazing missionary.

Tarzan = AMAZING!

Tonight I went to Tarzan at the Tuacahn with my mom, Robin and Mic.

I don't know how many times I can say AMAZING, but it seriously was SOOO GOOD!

I know, I should say Tarzan is my favorite but I really think Terk was the best. The voice was PERFECT and the character was so stinkin' cute. That definitely was the perfect person for Terk.

Holy cow. I am soo happy. I absolutely LOVED IT!

Thanks Mom, Robin and Mic for inviting me to go!

Oh, and thanks for dinner mom! :)

missions...missionaries..

Missions are something that are a choice.

It honestly drives me insane when you hear that a missionary is going on a mission because parents are making them.

I believe that missions are something you do if you choose to. I am, by all means, FOR missions...I just think it is so ridiculous when parents push their kids to go on missions.

First of all, if a boy/girl goes on a mission because the parents are pushing them, they clearly are going for the wrong reasons.

Second, if it is not by THEIR choice, they will not learn what they are supposed to or get anything out of it.

If forced, they are going to get on in the mission field and have no clue what they are doing or why they are there. It would be obvious that they should not be there. They would be there for the wrong reasons...not for them. It would be for their mom/dad..whatever.

THEY won't learn anything, nor will the people they are trying to teach because they are not in it spiritually... make sense?

We are taught from primary that boys are supposed to go on missions (keyword being SUPPOSED), girls can if they choose. We are also taught about CHOICE. It is the boys choice if he wants to go on a mission.

Parents should have no say in it. Well, I mean they should...but they should never ever force one to go on a mission.

I hear all the time from people that didn't go on a mission that regret it. Of course that happens but it is a mistake you learn from. Live and learn..right? Anyways, kids need to live and learn, too. Parents need to realize that making big decisions for their kids is never going to help them. They need to learn from their mistakes, just like everyone else.

I know that parents think they are "helping" their child, but they aren't. The more you push things on them or make decisions for them, the more they rebel and want to learn for themselves.

In my school, we have a thing that says "you can't avoid a don't". It is about being more positive and avoiding "don't". When you grow up, all you hear is "don't touch that" or "don't go in the road" or "don't do that". Automatically, your brain says "do". You want to know WHY. You want to know what is going to happen if you really do that. Instead, I think parents should be like "stay out of the road because if a car comes it will smash you". Not those exact words. Just avoid saying "don't" and explain to them WHY they are not supposed to do that. If not, they want to know why so they will figure it out themselves.

Anyway, I got off track..

I just hate when parents push things on their kids. Let them live their own lives.

how you know....

that you're a horrible cook.

when you make TOP RAMEN (for crying out loud) and the kids eat it and say...

G- "this doesn't taste like the top ramen we had last time"
H- "yeah..it tastes funny"
N- "yeah it does"
G- "oh well"

I was babysitting and asked the kids what they wanted for lunch and they all decided on beef top ramen. I made it for them and was getting some for the baby when I heard this conversation take place in the living room. I really just had to laugh because it proves my point to everyone. I always say I am a horrible cook but everyone says "no, you just don't LIKE to cook"! Well, here ya go..this is my proof. :)

I love you, father

hahaha! :) We have this ongoing joke about me calling my dad father. It just came out one day. I think I was making fun of the mighty pligs or something... Anyway, it has just stuck so he is "father" to me. :)

Anywho...

I just want to tell my dad how much I love him!!! He is the best dad in the world. He has always been there for me. He is my sarcasm buddy. We are apparently "always sarcastic" according to my mom. We always just joke about everything and my mom gets mad because she doesn't understand sarcasm so we always say "JOKE ALERT!!!" hehehe :)

soo...

Happy father's day! I LOVE YOU!

growing up sucks.

I have recently realized that being big sucks. I don't want to grow up anymore. I don't want to deal with the real world anymore. I have been having problems with my school. They totally messed up my loans. Therefore, my bank account being very low. I have realized that when you are big, you have bills such as gas, food, etc.. I have never been so stressed about money in my life. Everyone tells me "welcome to the real world". Well, thanks..but I don't want to be in the REAL WORLD! I want to be in MY world where money is just money and you don't have to have it to survive. I know, I know...realistic, right? :) I hate borrowing money from parents and grandparents. I hate having to rely on people. I feel like I am using them. I'm not..they're just being nice and helping because without them, I would be evicted from my house, walking to school and starving. I really, and I mean REALLY appreciate all they do for me. I, one day, will pay you all back. I promise. Even if that does mean supporting you after you retire. :)

Never ever, will I ever, recommend Paul Mitchell to anyone. Of course people want to go there for "the name". That's what I did. I paid the extra $2,000 just for the name. I regret it. I wish I would have just gone to Evans or Taylor Andrews...something cheaper. I know I would have gotten the same education. I don't even NEED the Paul Mitchell name. It's not like I am going anywhere FAR with my hair career...just Kanab. People in Kanab don't give a dang where I went to school. Don't get me wrong, PM has been fun at times...it's just not where I want to be. I didn't even WANT to go there. I just didn't know what else to do at the time so I pretty much closed my eyes and chose. Not a good idea. I love meeting new people but some days I DREAD having a client because I am SO scared I will screw it up. I have like, zero confidence when it comes to it. UGH! Sheesh, I got side-tracked of where I was going with the not recommending..

When you first go in there, it is like a dream..just getting all of this money. They tell you "apply for FAFSA and get the money at this time and this time." The first one being 300 hours. People budget their money to get them to 300 hours before they get their first living disbursement check. Ninety-five percent of us got it like, a month later. People with families were struggling big time because they were expecting that check.. THEN, you get half-way through school and they totally jack up your loans. I, somehow, owe them ANOTHER $1,000 dollars because the old financial aid lady put numbers in all wrong...or something. I have no clue. She told another lady that her school was pretty much paid for because of grants. She would have to pay about $2,400 total and the grants would cover the rest. A couple weeks ago, the new financial aid advisor pulled her in her office and told her that the only grant she got was worth about $2,000 so she would have to fork out $10,000 that she didn't know about. She said "if i would have known that, I would have never started hair school." Stuff like this just keeps happening. It is so dang frustrating.

Now, this is where my struggling for money comes in because the financial aid advisor is NO HELP whatsoever. She is just a freaking b-word to me and my mom when we even try to talk to her about it. She just says, "well it's not our fault. You will have to come in my office next week and we will figure out how you are going to pay this back." WELL, IT'S NOT MY FREAKING FAULT EITHER! I AM NOT PAYING YOU AN EXTRA $1,000 DOLLARS BECAUSE YOUR EMPLOYEE SCREWED UP!

Ugh, it's so annoying and I am constantly stressing about everything. Hopefully, it will be fixed. Until then, I hate that school.

10K!

On Mother's Day weekend, my mom and I ran/walked the 10k.

It was super fun.
The plan was to just walk it, but once we got going..I turned to my mom and said "how do you feel about running?"
We decided to run two cones and walk two cones which equaled to be running three miles and walking three miles.

We ended up finishing in 95th and 96th overall with a time of like 1:22.56 or something.

For not training at all, I would say that's pretty darn good! :)

I love you, mom!

Happy Mother's Day to every mom out there (even you, Ash)! Especially my mom. I LOVE YOU, MOM! She has done soo much for me. She is the BEST!

Mom, you've always been there for me..giving me advice even if I acted like I knew everything already. You pushed me to be the best I could be. You believe in me..always have and I KNOW you always will. You mean so much to me. You have always supported me. You don't care that I call you and talk to you for half an hour just because. You always tell us you love us. Even if we are not doing what we should, you support us. Anyway, happy Mother's Day! I LOVE YOU!

things I have learned since moving out..

I have some serious pet peeves that I have come to terms with since I have moved out. I decided this after living with people other than family for six months and I hope I never have to do it again. These are some things I never would have thought would drive me insane but oh boy..

some of those things:

-sharing my stuff. for instance, my bathroom stuff. i hate sharing toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner, hairspray. honestly, go buy your own!
-dirty dishes in the sink. gross. clean up after yourself!
-when someone is chewing gum and you can hear them chomping from across the room!
-when you use the last of the toilet paper and you leave the empty roll just sitting on the holder.
-even worse, when you leave the empty roll of toilet paper on the roller thing but get a new one out and leave it sitting on top! REALLY?! how hard is it to switch it?
-people who shower and leave their dirty clothes strung across the bathroom floor. (i am guilty of this but mom, why didn't you tell me? it drives me INSANE!)

I never knew these things bugged me until moving to St. George. Who invented ROOMMATES?! UGH!

thrown a punch.

Yesterday at school, my friend (*Matilda) received a client. I don't know his name but I do know he was freaking crazy and C.R.E.E.P.Y! Anyway, I had seen him but she brought him into the Wash House while Ashley, Becca and I were in there. She sat him next to us (he REEKED of alcohol) and he layed down into the shampoo bowl and immediately sat right back up and was saying he was uncomfortable. *Matilda then put a towel where his neck would go and told him to lay back and it would be better. He told her it wasn't the bowl, it was that there were so many girls (there were three of us in there) that it was making him uncomfortable. *Matilda was like "uh, you did come to a mostly ALL girl school to get your hair cut". I don't know what else happened in there because Ashley, Becca and I left.

Well, while she was cutting his hair, he was hitting on her. It wasn't just like a little "can I have your number?" kinda thing...it was like HARDCORE hitting on her. Now..keep in mind that he is FIFTY-ONE YEARS OLD! He kept telling *Matilda that he wasn't married and that he was there with his ex-wife. Anyway, she bent over to do something and he leaned in and kissed her neck! WHAT IN THE HECK?! HE IS FIFTY-ONE YEARS OLD! I DO NOT CARE IF HE WAS DRUNK! *Matilda went and got Patrick (a learning leader) and told him what had happened. He was furios. He told *Matilda to go down into the lunch room and he would finish the haircut. Meanwhile, this old man is wandering around the school...you don't do that. While he was walking around, he was hitting on like everyone.. AHH! SICK! *Matilda was, of course, a little upset and I don't blame her. While Patrick was finishing his hair, he was telling him that it wasn't okay, blah blah. The guy was like "what did I do to her? I don't even know what I did!" Really? Perv.

Anyway, long story short..he is not allowed in our school anymore.

I would have punched him. No lie. I hate creepers. I am TERRIFIED of them.

I hate that man.

That's it.

*Name has been changed.

annoyed...

Yesterday, while at school, a sweet little old lady (or so I thought) came in for a perm. I had NEVER done a perm on a real person..just Lucy (mannequin). Of course I was a little nervous and shakey because most of the time I would just throw some perm rods on Lucy's head and call it good. She was totally nice and patient at first. I had to have the help of Vicki, my learning leader, quite a few times. This lady, we will call her Betsy, had really short hair. I was seriously struggling. After like an hour, I got all of the perm rods in. Betsy was getting a little irritated. She then told me a story about her going to the WalMart salon about a month ago to get a perm and it was gone the next day. I was feeling kind of sympathetic because the manager and the WalMart salon was just plain rude. Anyway, I had just put the perm solution on, which smells really horribly.. My LL had said to check it after 10 minutes but not to leave it on longer than 20. At about the ten minute mark, I checked it but it wasn't finished. The time just flew by and by the time I knew it, it had been 20 minutes but the perm wasn't done. Betsy was freaking out about it "frying her hair off". I had read the box and it said 25-30 minutes. I explained to my LL that she was freaking out and he said "if she wants it off, take it off. who cares what it looks like if she is being rude". So..I decided to wash it off. As soon as I had washed it out, she was saying she needed to get out of there. She was being just plain rude to me. By that time, I had honestly had enough. Betsy still had to air neutralize for at least 10 minutes and then I had to put the neutralizer on for five minutes and then finally wash her out. The whole entire time, she was just complaining and being rude to me because it was taking so long. I went and talked to my LL and he just said "tell her it's procedure and if she wants this stupid perm to actually work this time, maybe she should cooperate". It finally came time for her to leave, and believe me, I was PRAISING THE LORD! I just sat there and thought, "I honestly do not care what her stupid hair looks like".

Maybe, she should realize that going to a school for a perm is going to take longer because we are STUDENTS who are LEARNING! Sheesh. I was seriously. fed. up. My LL was like "you are going to get clients like that. I know you already hate her but really, I hate lots of my clients too." That made me feel so much better. :)

I think I realize why her last perm didn't work out....the hairstylist at the Wal-Mart salon was sick of her too. :)

Oh and to top it all off...she didn't even tip me.

HAG.

Every year, my mom makes us get family pictures. We always end up arguing because of what we wear. There is always one person who doesn't like what we are wearing. They did turn out cute though.

TUBING:

Since there was some snow, we decided it would be fun to go out to the Sand Dunes and go tubing. We bundled up and headed out. There wasn't a ton of snow but there was enough to tube on.

right when I flew off my tube and landed on my tailbone!

VISITING GRANDMA TONI:

Since the Shepherds were down here, we decided to go visit Grandma Toni who lives at the Beehive Home in Coral Canyon. She was so excited to see us. She was so dang funny. She was telling us about her "hideous hair" and how she "only has one tooth" so when she laughs she has to "cover her mouth so people don't see the ONE tooth". I swear we were laughing the entire time. She is such a sweetheart.
